You may recall I made a film at Ft. Pickens -- "This Darkness: The Vampire Virus" (2000). The fort
was clsoed in 2004 after Hurrican Ivan. Mal and Jen went about a month ago and then she and I
and Tom and John Roush went last weekend. Lot's o' Fun splunking!

Stelagtites from lime from mortar.

You can see where the engineers bolstered/shrunk this arch over the years.

Up to the canon! (And I mean that in the plural, like deer)

The Lone Palm, a visual for surfers where the waves break best.

Canon base.

In the 1870s, Geronimo and some of his tribe were brought to Ft. Pickens and held as an an attraction.
The fort made money off of tourists visiting to see the natives, like animals in a zoo, and buy their nateive art
and handycrafts. year, later (1899) a powder store blew, devastating a 100'x100' brick tower -- a HUGE
explosion. Many said it was Geronimo's Curse, as evidenced by his profile in the ruins.

This is listed on the map as a cistern for rain water. No way. It's some kind of bizarre Temple to the Elder
Gods, very Led Zeppelin.
